My Concise Oxford Dictionary defines a torch song as a popular song of unrequited love. (as far as needed: unrequited means not returned)

My Collins said nothing about it and my Oxford is a concise one ! to lazzy to look what the Harraps says ( i don't remenber where it is , perhaps in the attic ) , and nothing convincing on the web. So, it's definitly a love song, whatever the love is ! Thanks for answering. Gwen.
