English Grammar

the english apostrophe "s"

"Here we are expressing that the consumer's will ideally purchase "Fare-Trade" coffee because of the benefits for migrant workers."
Is the "s" after consumer a genitiv "s"? im Sinne der Übersetzung: "Der Wunsch des Verbrauchers"? Wenn dem so ist, wäre die Übersetzung holperig: "Hiermit drücken wir aus, dass der Wunsch des Verbrauchers im Idealfall "Fare-Trade" Kaffee erwirbt..." Müsste man es so übersetzen: ....dass der Wunsch des Verbrauchers darin besteht, im Idealfall...?
Warum heißt es dann nicht im englischen ...that the consumer's will ideally is to purchase...?

Why is there an apostrophe "s" behind the word consumer?

  • "Will" ist hier kein Substantiv, sondern ein Hilfsverb, das das Futur ausdrückt. "Consumers" ist ein Substantiv im Plural, deshalb ist das "s" kein Genitiv-"s". Das war einfach ein Missverständnis.
"Will" is not a noun but a verb expressing future tense, that's the Problem. "Consumers" is a noun in the plural, that's why there is no Apostrophe before the "s".
