Preterit

When you write for an exercise "You've seen this before" shouldn't you say instead, using the preterit "You saw this before" as it relate to an exercise in the past .

  • Not knowing the context, I think that both forms work for this sentence- the 'seen' sets the time as being in the past, perhaps continously, the 'saw' puts it in the past as a one-off event....perhaps...
