everyone needs to be...

Good morning everyone in the forum
In my today's lesson I read the following sentence:


"Everyone needs to be on their best behaviour."


To me: "everyone" is singular
"needs" is singular
why to put "their behaviour" and not "his" or "one's behaviour"?
