Another fiddly tough unsolved problem:


Will he be reqired taking his clothes off
or
to take his clothes off, or both of them like in the above mentioned case of "need"?

    To use a gerund, I wonder whether you shouldn't turn it in the passive.
    Will he be required his clothes being taken off?
    But that doesn't sound correct to my ears.
    I'd prefer the subjunctive present.


    Will he be required his clothes be taken off? (*)


    According to my feeling, both (*) could work.
  • I had been required to take my clothes off.
    No doubt: She required my clothes be taken off. That's it.
    Then what to expect next?
    That's indeed the fiddly tough problem that's left.
