translation of foreign or borrowed words

Our Gymglish computer sometimes translates a foreign (often of Latin origin) word into the same foreign word to other languages. So I stand there like a lemon and I am completely baffed.
E.g.: to hospitalize (hospitalise)
Does it mean that we bring sb to the hospital or does it mean that we learn somewhere as an intern or trainee?

  • Oh I see, this is a special difficulty for Germans:
to hospitalize means to send somebody to the hospital (= hospitalisieren) And you have another verb "hospitieren" that means "to sit in on classes", "to be permitted to attend a class".

I wonder if there are similiar difficulties in French: mettre dans un hôpital et "assister comme stagiaire, auditeur libre à un cours.
